Store Closing Sale Announcement!!!
UPDATE ON STORE CLOSING: About a month ago Burt Batcheller and Al French announced their retirement after 45 years of serving folks with quality equipment and service for enjoying the back country on foot, cross country skis, snowshoes - and New England's rivers, lakes, and ponds by paddle in canoes and kayaks.
The store will be open until 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 31st. All our existing inventory is now on sale at 50% off retail prices except canoes and kayaks which are priced at 40% off retail prices. After January 31st all mail will be forwarded to another Andover address. This website will continue to provide a point of contact for customers, suppliers, and other loyal supporters. We've very much enjoyed our long time association with the back country market and hope to see many of you on the trails and waterways.

MOOR & MOUNTAIN PUTS AL, BURT, AND ITSELF OUT TO PASTURE
Al French, Burt Batcheller, and Moor & Mountain today announced their retirement from the outdoor equipment field. Since 1966 Moor & Mountain has done its best to enable anyone in reasonable health to enjoy back country that can only be reached on foot, skis, snowshoes, or with a kayak or canoe paddle. Initially, Moor & Mountain operated a national mail order catalog and two retail stores in Concord and Andover, Mass. Since 1975 the business has operated a rustically decorated retail store in Andover. The team of Al and Burt, ably assisted by experienced outdoors men and women from Andover schools and long-time customers, has dispensed not only equipment but practical advice on what to wear and where to safely hike, climb, ski, or paddle with it.
Moor & Mountain will be open during the Holiday season and into what we hope is a snowy winter. During this time we’ll continue to dispense good equipment, while our inventory lasts, at attractive retirement sale prices. Not long after the beginning of 2012, Moor & Mountain will close its doors, but the practical advice will always be there as Al and Burt continue their involvement in Andover and its surrounding communities. We expect to continue to see many of our customers on local Andover trails, the Bay Circuit Trail, the Shawsheen River, Den Rock, and other special outdoor places.
