Best One-day Paddling in the Boston area: the Concord, Sudbury, and Assabet Rivers, a guide to canoeing, wildlife, and history. By Ron McAdow. Second edition 2000. Bliss Publishing. $ 22.00. Ron McAdow and I first met on the initial Bay Circuit Trail Trek in June of 1990. Currently, Ron leads the Sudbury Valley Trustees, an outstanding regional land trust. In between Ron researched and wrote what in my opinion is the definitive canoeing guide format. The river system composed of these three rivers contains enough paddling enjoyment in canoe or kayak to last a lifetime, and its' all within a 40 minute drive from anywhere in the Boston area. In addition to its informative text Ron's guide includes well-organized topographic maps.
